SECURITY STATEMENT

First Brandon values our partnership with you and is committed to protecting the security of your personal information.  The NetTeller® Internet Banking product employs industry-proven standards and technologies, such as firewall systems and encryption technology, to protect information in the internet banking environment.

Security Controls and Browser Requirements

We understand the security of personal and account information about you is important to you.  To assist us in offering internet banking services in a secure manner.  NetTeller® employs a number of controls described below.  These controls allow us to properly authenticate your identity when you access these services and protect information about you as it travels over the Internet between us and your access device(such as PC or wireless device).

To access the NetTeller® site, you are required to enter your assigned User ID and password.  At the first login, you will be required to change the password.  Password guessing is deterred and reported.  After 3 invalid login attempts, a lock-out mechanism will deter users from repeated login attempts.  Upon successful login, the Digital ID from Verisign, the experts in digital identification certificates, authenticates the user’s identity and establishes a secure session with the user.

To provide additional protection, a timeout feature is used that logs you out of your account after an extended period of time.  After this limit is reached, you are required to login again.  This feature helps to reduce unauthorized access to your accounts with us via the Internet.

The NetTeller® site requires the use of secure browsers to protect you while you access our online services.  NetTeller® currently operates on any PC with a browser that supports 128-bit encryption, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer® (Version 5.0 or higher) or Netscape Navigator™ (Version 7.7 or higher).   Secure browsers allow you to communicate with the Website in a protected session by encrypting information that flows between you and the site.  To verify your session is secure, look for https: instead of http: in the URL address line (web address), and a secure symbol (for example, closed padlock or key) on the status bar of your browser located on the lower part of the screen.

The NetTeller® uses firewalls to protect their computer systems and your information.  Firewalls can be thought of as a selective barrier that permits only specific types of traffic (transactions).

Another security feature of NetTeller® is the use of account number masking and account aliases. While using NetTeller®, complete account number(s) will not display on the computer screen.  Account “aliases” may be defined for each of your accounts (i.e., “My Checking”) and are used when displaying account information on the screen.

Here is How You Can Help

While we at First Brandon continue to provide security controls to protect information about you, we believe that it is extremely important for you to share in the responsibility for security.  The following are some ways you can protect yourself and your accounts:

  • Never share your User ID or password with anyone.  Remember, a bank representative will never ask you for your password.
  • Choose a password that is at least 6 characters, a combination of letters and numbers, and difficult to guess.  Avoid using an easily guessed password such as a word found in the dictionary, your name, your significant other’s name, your pet’s name, or birthday.
  • Avoid writing your password in a place where others can view it.
  • Use only the secure email service within NetTeller® when sending or requesting account or information about you.
  • Consider using a personal firewall to prevent hackers from invading your personal computer, especially if you are using DSL or a cable modem to access the Internet.
  • Install virus protection software and scan all downloaded software, as well as all diskettes, before use. Also, delete emails with attachments from unknown sources.
  • When you are done with your transactions, always click on “Exit” and wait for the message “You are now logged out”.   Failure to do so could endanger the security of your personal information by potentially allowing others using the same computer to access information saved or cached in the memory of the browser.
